Concerto for Violin and
String Orchestra
(2003)

I didn't know this concerto until it was brought to my attention by Maestro Nurhan Armen. What a beautiful piece. It is filled with so many beautiful colours.
Sinfonia Toronto -Nurhan Armen conducting
mvmt 4 (Aria)

Concerto for Violin and
Orchestra
(1996)

This is the concert I was able to play as concerto competition winner at my school -I chose the Barber Concerto. I think that it is one the most beautiful concerto ever written and isn't overplayed.
Allegro
Andante
Presto in moto perpetuo
Samuel Barber
The Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra - Carl Topilow conductor

Liebeslied (2002)
Fritz Kreisler
David Riley, piano
Banjo & Fiddle (2002)

What can I say? I grew up in the East Coast and have always had a liking to the Fiddle. Granted this isn't real "East Coast' fiddle music but it is a fun piece to play...and heck if I get to play the violin as a banjo, what can be wrong with that?

William Kroll
David Riley, piano

Jacob Concerto (1998)

I discovered this concerto in a public library in Toronto. It looked like a lot of fun so I got some friends together and performed it in Banff. This is the last movement of the concerto - the opening sounds a bit like jaws, don't you think? If you like it send me an email and let me know. I can send you the other movements.
mvmt 3 (Allegro molto)

Gordon Jacob

Banff Chamber Players

Chaconne (2001)
Tomasso Vitali David Riley, piano

Shostakovich Sonata (1999)

"This performance is quite rough and crazy...a bit harsh but still worth checking out. It shows the angry and frustrated side of Shostakovich"
mvmt 3(Allegretto)
Dimitri Shostakovich Jean Desmarais, piano

Souvenir D'Amerique(2002)

This is my famous arrangement of Vieuxtemps' Yankee Doodle. I didn't change it toomuch from the original but I did change it enough to call it my own. This is piece is ridiculously fun!

Henri Vieuxtemps David Riley, piano
